Arterial ulcers (also known as ischemic ulcers) arise from poor blood flow, and impaired delivery of oxygen and nutrients to our tissues. They are most commonly occur on legs or arms, and may be very painful.
Many factors can increase your risk of developing an arterial ulcer, including:
Cigarette smoking
Peripheral vascular disease
High blood pressure
Diabetes Mellitus
Kidney failure
Atherosclerosis
Trauma
Limited joint mobility
Advanced age
